NBA Prayer Request

We are asked to pray this week for Portrack BC
Minister: Linda Donaldson

Portrack Baptist Church
We give thanks for a year of deepening fellowship together and of growing together in intergenerational and multi-voiced worship.
We are thankful for God's continued provision and for the work of our Baby Bank which started just before the pandemic began and has been accessed by many young families over this difficult year.
We are grateful too for the ministry and call of Rachel Holland as her initial training in Baptist Ministry comes to an end.

As lockdown ends (hopefully) we want to be led by God in all that we do. The image of the cloud and the pillar of fire in the wilderness leading the children of Israel sums up our desire - to be Spirit led and inspired and to move at God's command. Please pray for us as we seek to listen and follow God's leading alone as we emerge from the pandemic and please also pray for Rachel as she discerns God's will with the church call on her life and ministry.

NBA Prayer Requests

We are asked to pray for the celebration and opportunities of Pentecost this week.

Prayers prepared by Paul Revil our Regional Minister (Missions)

"All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability."  (Acts 2:4, NRSV)

Give thanks this day for God's grace in giving himself to us in the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For all that the Spirit is doing in your life, the gifts he has given, the enabling for following and serving Christ, the fruit he is growing within you to transform your character to be like Jesus.  Give thanks for signs of the Spirit's work in church, community and the wider world.

The Holy Spirit moves the church out into mission and enables the church for mission.  We see this on the Day of Pentecost with the gift of tongues which enabled the Gospel to be declared across the different language barriers. Therefore let us pray:
  • For God's Spirit to equip us to cross the boundaries and barriers to bring the Good News of God's Kingdom more widely: to those of younger generations; to the poor and the overlooked; to the traditional working classes who are largely absent from many of our churches; to all cultures and groups in our communities.
  • For God's Spirit to guide and lead us in this time of change as we emerge from pandemic restrictions - that we will be sensitive to the Spirit's leading and open to follow into new ways of being church, new avenues of God's mission, as well as some returning to good ways of the past - wherever he will lead us.
  • For God's Spirit to bring new energy, life and transformation to our NBA family of churches; and for Hayley Young as she prepares to take up the role of Transitional Strategic Leader in the autumn, that God will use her to inspire and lead us into the change he would desire for us, and for a deeper life of the Spirit.
  • Ask the Spirit to fill you afresh this day and to bring new life into your church.  May we wholeheartedly join together in seeking the life and fullness of the Spirit.

NBA Prayer Request

We are asked to pray for Stockton Baptist Church this week.
Senior Minister Andrew Waugh

We give thanks that since our present Senior Minister is retiring this year, the Lord has led us onto a new one! The 'handover' will take place in the Autumn. Please pray (a) for the incoming chap as he moves house with his family, adapts to a different church culture, and adapts to a different local culture… and (b) that this next chapter in this church's life would see more people being saved and discipled than ever before. The sobering fact is that this church's membership numbers are still largely based on a revival from 40 years ago, and  without all our people leading others to Jesus, the numbers will plummet in the next ten to fifteen years.

We also give thanks that our youth group has held together during lockdown, with all of the teenagers remaining in touch and participating (despite a lot of 'screen fatigue'). Plus, our Childrens' work is sending more children 'up' to the youth work soon, increasing the group by another 20%. Please pray (a) that the Lord would inspire more adults to volunteer into the youth work – the existing ones are seriously overstretched – and that, as the various groups eventually return to meeting in the church building, that space would be found – it's a big auditorium with a very small number of 'other' rooms. Thank you!
