NBA Prayers for 15th December - Darlington Baptist Tabernacle and Grange Road Baptist Church

Recently, the two Darlington NBA churches have been exploring closer cooperation and working together. Give thanks for:

the willingness of the two congregations to embark upon this journey with an unknown destination;

a wonderful day last Sunday, spent worshipping together, lunching together and singing carols together in the local Sainsbury’s supermarket, in the process collecting £140 for the Philippines Disaster Appeal.

Pray for:

Linda Donaldson, the Minister in Training at the Tabernacle, and Rodney Breckon, the Moderator of Grange Road, as they explore the future for their churches and for themselves personally;

closer bonding as the people of the two churches continue to meet socially, share a forthcoming Lent Course – and sing again at Sainsbury’s next Christmas!

the Spirit’s guidance as to how the churches can make Darlington beat more strongly to the heartbeat of Jesus.

NBA Prayers for 8th December - Whitley Bay BC

This Autumn we followed a church-wide programme: "Begin the Journey into Emotionally Healthy Spirituality". This has taken us to new depths, both individually and corporately, and we pray that what we have begun will continue to motivate us and move us into a deeper devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. "Begin the Journey" will lead, next year, to the working out of our fundamental "Rule of Life" (framework of commitments) that will support us in our life and mission as a Church. It is our hope that this will in turn lead to a renewed commitment to evangelistic and compassionate mission in a Year of Outreach in 2015.

We give thanks for the number of young families, with young children, who are part of the church. We thank God for the work of Laura Spanswick, our Team Leader for Young People's Work. Pray for Laura as she moves, before Easter, into a time of maternity leave. Pray also for the continuing vitality of our young people's work.

On November 17 we celebrated with our Filipino Congregation of seven years as they became the Filipino International Church, a member church of the NBA and BUGB. They are a fellowship of some 26 families and include 25 teenagers. Pray for them and for their pastor, Virgilio Pansacala, and Deacons. The Church Commissioning came just a week after the terrible events of Typhoon Haiyan. Pray with us for and support the relief effort in that country.

On Saturday 14 December WBBC is holding an Outreach & Community Day in the Centre of Whitley Bay, including the handing out of free mince pies and hot drinks, a Nativity Hunt around the shops and craft activities at the church. Pray for successful contacts to be made.

NBA Prayers for 1st December - Heaton BC (Newcastle)

Thank God for our continued and growing links with people in the Community.

Please pray:

that our Christmas activities will be an opportunity to strengthen those links further into our community

for our leadership, staff team and volunteers in the busy festive period.

for those, from many European, Asian and other countries who are part of our English Classes and International Lifegroups that, through them, they may grow in both their understanding of our country and of what lies at the heart of our faith.

NBA Prayers for 24th November - Oxford Road BC (Hartlepool)

We give thanks for our pastor Richard Hetherington and the church leadership team as they continue to love, care for and oversee the fellowship and pray for them as they seek God's direction for the future.

Pray for the ongoing work of The ORB centre, our community centre, which offers a variety of services to local people during the week helping them to deal with practical aspects of their lives.

Pray for our Christmas programme of events and special services this December that these might present opportunities for us to reach out and share the good news with those who do not usually enter a church any other time of the year.

NBA Prayers for 17th November - Crosby Garrett United Chapel

We are still finding it quite hard, with only four members attending each week. We give praise for their faithfulness and pray for our eldest member who does not get out to worship in the winter, as she finds it too difficult then.

We were greatly encouraged during the summer when our student was home for the summer from Oxford Brookes University. He gives us great encouragement when he tells us what he does at the Christian Union connected to Uni and also how he has grown in faith at the church he attends in Oxford. He is in his final year doing a Masters Degree. Pray with us that he can get a job and carry on being a witness for Jesus.

NBA Prayers for 27th October - Lakeside BC (Sunderland)

Praise
We are truly grateful to the Lord that Ian Wren and his wife Maureen (Independent Methodists from Hetton-le-Hole) have accepted our 100% unanimous call to be our new Pastor. Ian will begin his ministry among us in January 2014. No date has been set yet for Ian's Induction Service. With Ian and Maureen's coming we are convinced that the best days of the Church lie before us.
We give thanks to the Lord for the ministry of Mike Cross our present Pastor who will be serving until the end of the year, after 8 years of service at Lakeside BC.

Prayer
That the Lord will prepare us for Ian and Maureen's coming as we work together in this new and exciting chapter in the life of Lakeside BC.
That the Lord will raise up workers for the children's work so that the baton can be passed on to others by those who have served long and faithfully in this ministry.
For the change in timing of the Bible Study and Prayer Meeting to Tuesday evening, that more will feel that they can take advantage of this opportunity to come together in this way.
For those in the Fellowship who are feeling the weight of their years, that the Lord will sustain them and continue to make them a blessing to us.
